Courageous Conversations: Nurturing Community Relations in Light of the Middle East
In recognition of the alarming recent rise in antisemitism and Islamophobia and the great strain placed on interfaith relations by the devastating events in the Middle East, Interfaith Glasgow and Interfaith Scotland delivered the first in a series of difficult but important dialogues last week (January 2024).
Jewish, Muslim, and Christian board members and close supporters agreed to work together to increase understanding of the impact of the ongoing situation in Israel and Palestine on our communities here in Scotland and to identify how we can continue to build positive community relations in light of it.
The warmth and care participants showed one another—as well as the degree of honesty and courage with which they were prepared to speak—was truly heartening, strengthening our commitment to fostering this vital channel of communication at this extremely challenging time.
